Significance of test

Neutrophils are a type of white blood cells and one of the immune system components responsible for combating bacterial infections. They are granulocytes that develop during hematopoiesis in the bone marrow before migrating into blood, after which they are terminally differentiated and do not multiply. Neutrophilia (increase in neutrophil count) is found in some infections like bacterial infection, sepsis, pyogenic infections etc. Neutropenia (decrease in neutrophil count) is found in immune diorders and some infections like typhoid.
