• At least 12 hr overnight fasting is required before drawing sample in plain vial. Diet before should be routine normal diet not excessive in fats.

Significance of test
Triglycerides are lipids used as energy source. Triglycerides can be produced in body and also present in diet. Extra calories, alcohol and sugar in the body are converted into triglycerides and stored in fat cells. Increased triglycerides levels with increased cholesterol raise the risk of heart attack, strokes and pancreatitis.
